2027 Jeep Gladiator Now Costs Nearly $10,000 More Than The Toyota Tacoma
Jeep unveiled a new 35-inch tire package for the 2027 Gladiator this week, which brings improved off-roading capabilities to three trims. But the rest of the 2027 Gladiator lineup has not been neglected, either. Across most of the lineup, Jeep has added new features, updated accessories, and revised the trim structure. A new base trim has joined the lineup, but the Gladiator has received a fairly significant price bump, as every version now costs over $40,000.

Here’s a look at all the 2027 changes by trim level.
Sport S
The Sport S becomes the new base trim, replacing the previous Sport variant. This model comes with a seven-inch TFT color instrument cluster, passive entry, all-terrain tires, and 17-inch machined aluminum wheels.
Sahara
One step above the Sport S in price is the Sahara, which gets a new vented power dome hood and side steps. A 20-inch Premium Wheel Package for this trim adds machined 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, heavy-duty Dana 44 axles, and a Trac-Lok limited-slip rear differential.
Willys
The Willys gains a standard black hardtop. Other than that, its only major change is the availability of the limited 35-inch Tire Package for this model.
Rewind
There are no major changes for this special-edition model, which features nostalgic neon paintwork and graphics. It also has Iced Blue and Plum interior accents.
Mojave
The Mojave now comes with body-color fender flares, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a standard body-color hardtop, and embedded navigation. Buyers can also opt for the Jeep Performance Parts Mojave, which gets Moper accessories like a triple-hoop grille guard, cold-air intake, and Camel Katzkin leather seats with Terracotta stitching.

Stellantis
Mojave X
Jeep has added a standard cargo management package to this variant. It includes a 115V bed power outlet, roll-up tonneau cover, lockable and removable rear underseat storage bin, and bed-mounted Trail Rail System.
Rubicon
The Rubicon gets many of the same upgrades as the Mojave, including heated seats and a heated steering wheel. Outside, body-color fender flares and a black hardtop are standard.
Rubicon X
This highly capable model comes with the same cargo management system as the Mojave X.
In addition to these primary trim updates, there are also special-edition models based on these trims that have been upgraded. The Gladiator Altitude, based on the Sport S, comes with 20-inch wheels, wide-track Dana 44 heavy-duty axles, a limited-slip differential, and dark exterior accents. Finally, the Gladiator High Altitude makes a return as an enhancement of the Sahara trim level. It gets the regular Altitude’s updates as well as body-color bumpers/door handles and Nappa leather seats.
The 2027 Gladiator’s extensive color palette includes Ghost and Limited Edition Gum 31, which are new additions for this model year.

Gladiator Not The Cheapest Midsized Pickup
2026 Toyota Tacoma
Toyota
There’s a price to pay for the Gladiator’s brilliant off-road capabilities. The best-selling vehicle in this segment, the Toyota Tacoma, starts at just $34,950 in Double Cab guise. It doesn’t have 4×4 equipped as standard, but even adding that option ($3,200) keeps its base price well below that of the Jeep’s. In XtraCab form ($32,545), the Tacoma is now almost $10,000 cheaper than the Gladiator.
The Toyota also comes with a more efficient 2.4-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, and it’s much more refined for daily driving. The Jeep is a better off-roader as standard, but it’s a chore to drive on normal roads.
Chevy’s Colorado is another cheaper alternative. For roughly the price of a base Gladiator, you can get a Colorado Trail Boss, which comes with an off-road suspension and two-inch suspension lift. Its 310-hp TurboMax engine is also more powerful than the Jeep’s dated V6.
These rivals don’t offer the iconic design, removable doors, and customization of the Jeep, but they’re more complete pickups that don’t demand the same compromises.
